For the past 3 years, under the shade of the gum trees at Perry Lakes Reserve in Floreat, The Vintage Surfboard Collectors’ Meet has provided an opportunity for collectors to display vintage surfboards to trade or sell, and to show and discuss classic examples of surfboard evolution and history with like-minded collectors and enthusiasts.

Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet 2023

This year we showcase the eighties with Hot Brewz Surfboards, and will include appearances by Murray Smith (owner), shapers Phil Usher, Dave Macaulay and Benton Moran, artists Darin ‘DEVO’ Howard and Andrew Hunter as well as glasser Neil Bird. Join them as they reminisce their days at 5 Flynn Street Churchlands. If you have a Hot Brewz or Murray Smith surfboard, be sure to bring it down on the day – the crew will be stoked to see it!

Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet 2022

Also in the crowd where Perth’s surf industry legends, Tom Blaxell, Len Hawke, Neil Bird, Gus Simpson, Cliffy Hills, the Harbison brothers, Murray Smith, Patrick Leahy, Chris Fulston, Jim King, Mick Marlin, Hillzee, Bill Gibson and Colin Earle.

‘An awesome day out at the Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet. Apologies if I missed anyone wanting to buy a board I had for sale. The temptation to wander off and look at the other collections was too great.’ Justin Blair

“That was one of the highlights of my year. I’ve not been into the vintage board collecting thing very long but I just froth on it now. Before James passed away I remember him saying to me, one of the best things about it, is the people you meet along the way. So true. Thanks again, can’t wait for the next one.

— Mike Singleton

“What an epic day, so many people with and without boards all loving it. There was some serious West Oz surfing royalty in attendance today.”

— Denis Keane

“A diamond day at the Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet. So many boards this year. Well done for the great organisation. So cool for the Cordingley team to catch up with owner Bill Oddy who took the baton from Col and Rex.”
